Mr Ziyaad Sultan

MBBS BSc FRCOphth

Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in oculoplastic, lacrimal, orbital and cataract surgery - providing advanced medical and surgical eye care for adults.

Mr Ziyaad Sultan, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon

Mr Sultan studied Medicine and Surgery at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. After seven years of comprehensive ophthalmology training, he undertook a further three years of intensive subspecialty fellowship training at internationally recognised centres in London and Liverpool, developing advanced expertise in complex reconstructive, functional and aesthetic peri-ocular surgery.

He holds a substantive NHS consultant post at Aintree Hospital, Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - a busy tertiary referral unit for complex head, neck and ocular disease. His NHS practice regularly involves managing complex peri-ocular tumours and reconstruction, working closely alongside colleagues in ocular oncology on the most demanding referred cases. Alongside this, he sees private patients at Kelsall Surgical Centre in Cheshire and iSIGHT Clinic in Southport.

He has performed over 5,000 cataract and oculoplastic procedures to date, currently carrying out around 1,000 operations a year between cataract and oculoplastic surgery. He has published peer-reviewed research in ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery, and is regularly invited to speak at international ophthalmology meetings. Alongside his colleagues, Mr Sultan supervises fellows and specialist registrars in training and remains actively involved in teaching, audit and research within his department.

He is known for a calm, thorough and patient-centred approach, ensuring every patient receives clear communication, individualised treatment planning and the highest standard of care.

Philosophy

Safety and natural outcomes, in that order.

Every consultation begins with establishing whether a concern is functional - affecting vision or comfort - aesthetic, or both. That distinction shapes the entire treatment plan, from the conversation about options through to the surgical technique chosen and the follow-up care provided.

Mr Sultan's NHS work at a busy tertiary referral unit means he regularly manages complex peri-ocular reconstruction - experience that carries directly into the precision and caution he brings to routine blepharoplasty, ptosis and cataract surgery.
